The Neuroscience (NEUR) major is a Limited Enrollment Program (LEP). Current University of Maryland (UMD) students who would like to add NEUR as a major are required to complete a series of gateway requirements and submit an LEP application by a specified deadline.
Current UMD students may schedule an appointment with a Neuroscience advisor to learn more about the major, the LEP gateway requirements, and the LEP application process.
Please, complete the following steps to request an appointment with a Neuroscience Advisor.
  1. Review the prospective student presentation below detailing the Neuroscience Major’s application process and degree requirements.
    • Note: The presentation should take no longer than 15 minutes of your time!
  2. If you would like to further discuss the Neuroscience major, after viewing the presentation please email neuradvising [at] with your UID to request an appointment with an advisor.
    • Note: 30-minute virtual and in-person appointments are available Monday through Friday; 9am-4pm.

PLEASE NOTE: Neuroscience Advisors will be available for Drop-In Advising from 9:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday in the Neuroscience Advising Suite during the Schedule Adjustment Period* (January 25- February 7). Students will be seen on a first come, first serve basis, and it is okay if you do not meet with your specific advisor. Please note: These meetings are meant to be brief, and should last approximately 10-15 minutes.

*The Neuroscience Advising Suite will be closed on Wednesday, February 1st from approximately 10:00am to 11:30am for a staff meeting.
