We are excited to welcome Dr. Chan Lin to the Neuroscience team! Dr. Lin will serve as the Course Director for NEUR306: Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience.

Dr. Lin has taught Invertebrate Neurobiology at the Honors College of University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) since 2017. He received his Ph.D. from the Graduate Interdisciplinary Program in Insect Science (with Neuroscience minor) at the University of Arizona, studying the neuroanatomy and behavior of four-eyed whirligig beetles. Upon graduation, he became a postdoctoral fellow at UMBC, and later on, at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History investigating the nervous system of crustaceans, with an emphasis on the visual brain area of stomatopods (mantis shrimp) and hyperiid amphipods. He is particularly interested in understanding the fundamental principles of brain evolution and sensory adaptations.
